there is a big difference between what they tell newcomers or outsiders and what they really believe.

Of course they are a religion. They are an End of the World cult based on spirit possession. They are a religion which tells people it is not a religion in order to slip under people’s defences.

I just wanted to say that I go to the BK center for practical spirituality in providence, you cant assume that the entire religion is messed up just because of several incidences …. there thet just teach trying to be in touch with spirituality loving everyone forgiving everyone and being a good person, nobody asks you to be celebate, i was vegetarian before I found them but they teach that humans are equal to animals, and they teach that they are not a religions and that all religions are a link to God … with everything there is some good and bad and this is a website devoted to the bad

The BK’s took a profound Vedic concept – the Trimurti of Brahma Vishnu and Shiva – which describes the perpetual process of change – creation, sustenance, destruction – that occurs at (and flows through) every moment, and they bastardised it to suit the conceptions of Lekhraj and his coterie as they tried to make sense of the personal experiences they went through.

All the gyan is a reworking and mishmash of existing ideas that he picked up throughout his life as a sincere spiritual seeker, and he tried to synthesise it all to suit his mindset . That is reflected by so many BKs who have wonderful meditation experiences and then expend so much time and energy rationalising the gyan, thinking its a proprietary-owned bundled package deal……

Of course the BKs eventually hit a wall trying to be all things to all people, and the hindu emblems – steeped in implication whether taken simplistically and literally as per the BK gyan, or symbolically as per vedic metaphor – were jettisoned as bad PR the way the word “destruction” has been replaced in the public lingo with ‘transformation”.

The gyan is an ego-centric concept that places mankind at the top & centre of life, the BKs at the top & centre of mankind, the Sindhi clansmen at the top & centre of the BKs, and Lekhraj at the centre of the universe. I know lots of young children (of various ages) that see themselves as the centre of the universe too. They are also lovely, sincere and well-meaning.

We are married for 22 years and had a happy married life till 3 years ago.My wife decided to join Bramhakumaris sect 3 years ago without my knowledge and we are having a troubled relation ship ever since.My wife was loving.caring.cooperative maintaining very cordial relationship .Now .I find following MAJOR changes in her since her joining the sect:: -She has stopped going to temples,declines to participate in religious functions at home or temple(including shraddh).is not interested in any hindu festivals.She has even torn my books and notes on GITA AND UPANISHAD. -Has developed strong hatred towards me ,my father and sister and is always ANGRY and abusing. -Has even stopped sex with me unilaterally for past 3 years – she indulges in fault finding always – takes very little interest in cooking,children and always talks of living alone.In short I am leading a terrible life ever she joined bramhakumaris.Pl advise how to go about so that normal family life is restored.Should I involve her parents for counselling her.Ammaa. pl help me.Is this a common experience of persons whose spouse has joined Bramhakumaris?

If you woke at 4 m and did any kind of meditation or yoga, and then went to any kind of gathering that discussed deeper aspects of life every day before work, you would find great benefit. It is your own life energy you have engaged, your own desire to improve being enacted. It comes from your own choice to invest good energy into your own life that you find “wonderful”. Actively living life is indeed wonderful.

Don’t think it is all a gift from the BKs. They have no monopoly on life enhancement. they sell you what you already have, but tie you up by confusing what is yours with what is (their) god’s.

You get what you give, be careful who and where you give to. Life enjoyed in any way is its own reward

Good luck and be careful! Your brief, positive experiences in no way negate past injuries and trauma to many enthusiastic BK followers as yourself.

Part of the BK story is opposition by the “anti-Party” who BKs describe as evil, in constrast with purity-loving BKs.

For some of us it took 10 years or longer to realize that the “anti-Party” had legitimate concerns, and that the “purity-loving” BKs do manipulate others for power and financial gain.
